Studies In the Word

Today's Lesson In the Word

If we follow these four basic principles we will find ourselves Immersed In God's Grace.

Principle One: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength," Deut. 6:5

Principle Two:  Service in some form of ministry.

Principle Three:  Trust God.

Principle Four:  Obedience.

God wants to bless every area of our lives.  Our relationships, careers, children, ministries etc... These principles are the secret to God's grace.  We are undeserving of it and that is exactly what grace is...unmerited favor.  Jesus demonstrated that for us when He died on the cross while we were still yet sinners.  Rom. 5:8

When we Love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength, we put nothing  between us and God.  We keep His laws written on our hearts and door frames of our houses.  They should be shared with our children for they our the future generation.  We should worship, praise, and serve Him no matter the cost, no matter how great the sacrifice.  When we do not make excuses, and we do these things willingly and happily, God knows He has our whole heart.

Secondly, find a place to serve.  This teaches us to die to our own selfish desires and to put others first and helps us grow spiritually.  We help others as we serve and find that  as we are faithful in doing so that God helps us overcome the daily things that rise up against us that try to slow us down, and of course, we help a lot of people along the way.

Thirdly, trusting God is not easy.  Especially if you've been abused, neglected, or have trouble complying with authority.  However, just as a child trusts his/her parents that things will be the way they say,  God wants that same innocence from us as His children.  And he said,  "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 18:3

Lastly, obedience.  If you have the other principles but can't master obedience they are as good as dead.  God has no use for someone who cannot follow a simple command.  How can you hold a ministry without obedience?  If you do not trust God, why would you obey Him?  If you love Him with everything you have within, then you will want to obey!

"Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, promised you.Deut. 6:3
